An evening with Emma Richardson exploring Pioneering Mission

On Tuesday, 24 September, we were excited to welcome Emma Richardson, Pioneer Enabler for ‘God For All’, to our Western Dales Mission Community Open Meeting. She helped us to engage with our understanding of mission in a creative and interactive way.

We were encouraged to ask some challenging questions about what we think the purpose of mission is, what it looks like in our current context, and what it might look like in the future. We heard a variety of different viewpoints from within the Mission Community, and spent time in prayer asking God to help us discern next steps.

Emma brilliantly led the session, challenging us to question some of our underlying assumptions about mission. Many of our community experience church in its time honoured traditional setting. But we were encouraged to think about new ways of engaging with faith, and enabling discipleship and growth.

Many thanks to Emma for taking the time to help us engage with deep questions around the subject of mission. If you would like to contact Emma to discuss Pioneering Mission with her, you can find her contact details here: https://www.carlislediocese.org.uk/pioneer-enablers/

The next Open Meeting will be on Thursday, 23 January 2025, 7pm at St Andrew’s Sedbergh. Our guest speaker will be Karen Jaques, who will be speaking to us on caring for creation and the climate crisis.
